A recent explosion of metrics and forecasting is speaking to the advantage of video in marketing campaigns, social media engagement, and viewer entertainment. You know you want a video, but the mountain seems distant and tall.

I’ve actually begun to realize that educating our partners and clients is the best way to help them through the process. Then, when we arrive at a conclusion, we’re actually addressing their issues, concerns, or problems…we just happen to use video content to do it.

So, we’ve broken down the process into the Evolution of a Quality Film and had a recent collaborative partner help to explain. In a way, it’s our story, told through our client’s prism on a recent highly successful film.

How will I begin? What is our message? What story do we want to tell? How will we bring scope, task list, and budget to this? Where do we begin? Who do we trust to tell our story? Sometimes, getting out of the gate seems to be a monumental task and all of the details bog down the process to a non-starter.

At this point, it’s our job to listen: What’s your pain point? Who is your audience? What message are you working to clarify? We realize that we have two ears and only one mouth so that we listen twice as much as we talk.

We help to bring understanding about messaging and proper length (does any compelling story need this boundary?), and then we help bring understanding about how the tasks required translate to budget. Two filming days vs 10? What types of considerations, crew, special rigs, and post production are required? Transparency and information exchange happens here. We emerge from this phase with a clear path to the next phase of story development.

StarBarn-The Moving of an Icon

The majestic Star Barn sits in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, battered by time and neglect. But despite the ravages of time and encroachment, the Star Barn still has a bright future!

Team MindMotion has been entrusted to tell this story and we are honored to be documenting the disassembly, moving and renewal of this iconic structure, listed with the National Register of Historic Places.

Watch for updates and stories of the meticulous and timeless procedures from the craftsman selected in this monumental effort.

A Ripple That Never Reaches The Shoreline

Every once in a while, we get blown away on set. We arrived here with ideas of style, production content, and script. After about two sentences were spoken, we realized that no camera, no fancy light or gizmo could make it any better. Just keep recording...

Through this collaboration with Water Street Ministries, and their unconditionally loving, we were humbled beyond words. We're excited to help give a glimpse into the lives effected by the WSM mission! MindMotion salutes the volunteers making this happen. "Something critical is missing in places that care for broken and needy if the only people there are broken and needy."

Your photography is a record of your living, for anyone who really sees.

On a late Fall afternoon, while having Sunday dinner at a favorite Lancaster County destination, we glanced out the window and were presented with art. I was able to capture it with my iPhone6 and post to our Facebook page. It found an exciting space on the PA Dutch Country Convention & Visitors Bureau Group Planning cover. I'm quite honored to represent Lancaster to 7,000 Tour Planners in 2015!


Finding the needle, in the needle drop.

Imagine having hundreds of thousands of dollars just lying around in your production budget to drop on a national hit single for a one-off summer promotion spot scheduled to air only a few weeks:

Must be nice, right?

 
 

But here’s the thing, just because you don’t have the kind of coin to buy a popular tune, or even create an original score, doesn’t mean the music in your spot has to be any less effective at hooking viewers or setting the tone you want.

It just takes a little more work, on our part.

Finding the right music among the thousands of tracks in stock-music libraries is a lot like bargain hunting. We dig a little deeper; we look a little longer (we’re talking HOURS); we kiss a lot of B-side dreck. 

But when we do find “the one,” that perfect track––perhaps wedged between two absolutely wrong ones in an unexpected genre––there’s no better feeling in the world. And the results will undoubtedly have you nodding in foot-tapping agreement, as well.

 

So don’t fear the needle drop. Embrace it.
